INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – During a visit to a storm-ravaged furniture store in Valdosta, Georgia, former President Donald Trump claimed he had spoken with Elon Musk and requested assistance from SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service to restore communication in the hurricane-stricken areas.
“They don’t have communication… I just spoke to Elon,” Trump said, emphasizing the need for Starlink to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. “We want to get Starlink hooked up because they have no communication whatsoever. And Elon will always come through.”
Trump’s statements, however, have been met with skepticism from fact-checkers. While the former president acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating that “none of that matters” in the face of a crisis, his claims about the Biden-Harris administration’s response have been disputed.
Trump suggested that the Biden-Harris administration was not doing enough to help those affected by the hurricane and falsely claimed that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp couldn’t get in touch with President Biden. These claims have been contradicted by both Biden and Kemp, who have confirmed communication regarding the disaster relief efforts.
While Trump’s visit to Georgia may be a gesture of support, his comments about the administration’s response and his reliance on Musk’s Starlink service have raised questions about his motivations and the accuracy of his claims. (RED)
