
INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – Vladimir Putin celebrated his 72nd birthday on October 7th, a day marked by a new wave of Russian attacks on Ukraine and birthday wishes that echoed a Tsarist past.
Ultra-nationalist ideologue Alexander Dugin, who advocates for a vast Russian empire, wished Putin “God save the Tsar!” Dugin, a long-time proponent of the annexation of Ukraine, has been a vocal supporter of Putin’s policies.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov also sent birthday greetings, describing Putin as a “national leader.”
On the eve of Putin’s birthday, Russia launched a new wave of attacks on Ukraine, using 87 drones and four types of missiles. The attacks resulted in the death of a civilian in the Kharkiv region and damage to infrastructure in Odesa. Ukrainian air defenses reportedly destroyed 56 drones and two missiles.
The attacks come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy prepares to present his “victory plan” at a meeting in Ramstein, Germany. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to dominate the international stage, with tensions between Russia and the West remaining high.
