INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – A tragic plane crash occurred Saturday afternoon at the First Flight Airport within the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Manteo, North Carolina, resulting in multiple fatalities. Witnesses reported seeing the single-engine aircraft attempting to land at the airport when it crashed into a wooded area around 5 p.m.

The impact of the crash ignited a fire, which was quickly extinguished by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and other local responders. The airport remains closed pending an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also been notified of the incident.
