INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – A Memphis man, Justin Johnson, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of renowned rapper Young Dolph. The killing, which took place in broad daylight at a cookie shop in 2021, was allegedly fueled by a bitter rivalry between record labels.
A co-defendant, Cornelius Smith, testified that the murder was orchestrated by rapper Yo Gotti’s brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, who put a $100,000 bounty on Young Dolph’s head. Smith claimed he and Johnson were looking for a target that day and happened to spot Young Dolph’s car.
Johnson was found guilty on multiple charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The judge, Jennifer Mitchell, handed down the life sentence, bringing a sense of closure to the tragic case.
Smith, who also faces murder charges, has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial. This case highlights the dark side of the music industry and the devastating consequences of personal conflicts. (Red)
