INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – French President Emmanuel Macron has used the 19th Francophone Summit to champion the shared values of the French-speaking world, calling for a united front in addressing global conflicts.

Addressing delegations from dozens of states and governments, Macron highlighted the importance of protecting civilians and providing humanitarian aid in times of war. He specifically addressed the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, calling for Ukraine’s sovereignty to be upheld and advocating for a two-state solution to the Israel-Gaza conflict.
“We carry within us those humanist values that call us to the side of all our brothers in the French-speaking world and elsewhere,” Macron said. “We must urge that humanitarian space and the civilian population be protected everywhere and all the time.”
The two-day summit, held at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts and the Grand Palais in Paris, is bringing together heads of state and members of the International Francophone Organisation to discuss the future of the French language and address key international challenges.
