INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – Keanu Reeves, the action hero known for his stoic demeanor on screen, showed a different side of himself at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend. The “Matrix” star, making his professional auto racing debut, took a spin (literally) during the Toyota GR Cup race on Saturday, but emerged with a smile and a determination to keep pushing forward.
Reeves, who qualified 31st out of 35 cars, had a solid start to the 45-minute race, even climbing as high as 21st place. However, a spin into the grass on the exit of turn 9 brought his momentum to a halt. Despite the incident, Reeves remained calm and collected, avoiding a collision and continuing the race.
“It was a little bit of a spin, but I’m alright,” Reeves said with a chuckle after the race. “I’m not sure how many more spins I can take before I get a little dizzy!”
Despite the spin, Reeves finished the race in 25th place, a respectable showing for his first time on the track. He’s set to race again on Sunday, driving the No. 92 BRZRKR car, which is promoting his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere.” He’s teamed up with Cody Jones from the sports and comedy group “Dude Perfect.”
The 60-year-old actor, known for his love of motorcycles, is clearly enjoying this new challenge. “I’m just enjoying the experience,” Reeves said. “It’s a lot of fun, and I’m learning a lot.”
Reeves’s foray into professional racing has added a touch of Hollywood glamour to the Indy 8-hour event, attracting attention from fans and the racing community alike. While he may not be vying for a championship, his presence at the track highlights his adventurous spirit and willingness to take on new challenges.
