Indian Skies on High Alert: DGCA Issues Safety Advisory for Boeing 737s Perbesar

INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – The Indian aviation industry is on high alert as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued safety recommendations to all airlines operating Boeing 737 aircraft. The concern? A potential flaw in the rudder control system, which could lead to dangerous malfunctions.

This advisory, sparked by an investigation by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), focuses on a specific component: the Collins Aerospace SVO-730 Rudder Rollout Guidance Actuator. The NTSB discovered a production error in these actuators, which could potentially result in a jammed or restricted rudder, a crucial flight control system.

The DGCA is taking a proactive approach, urging airlines to conduct thorough safety risk assessments, inform their pilots about the potential issue, and incorporate specific training exercises to address rudder control system problems.

While the DGCA emphasizes the importance of safety, it also acknowledges that this issue affects only certain Boeing 737 models, specifically those equipped for low-visibility landings (CAT III B).

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the vital importance of continuous vigilance and safety protocols within the aviation industry. The DGCA’s swift action demonstrates its commitment to ensuring the well-being of passengers and crew in Indian airspace. (Red)
