INTERNEWSTIMES.COM – – The Danish capital was put on high alert on Wednesday after two pre-dawn explosions rocked the area near the Israeli Embassy. While no injuries were reported, the incident has sparked heightened security concerns and prompted authorities to investigate possible links to the diplomatic mission.

The explosions occurred around 3:20 a.m. local time, prompting the nearby Jewish school, Carolineskolen, to close for the day. Police cordoned off the area and deployed heavily armed officers, search dogs, and forensic teams to investigate the scene.
While authorities have not confirmed any arrests, they are actively investigating whether the explosions were targeted at the Israeli Embassy. The embassy is located in close proximity to several other diplomatic missions, adding to the complexity of the investigation.
The Jewish community in Copenhagen has also taken precautionary measures, announcing increased security around the main synagogue in the city center. Community chairman Henrik Goldstein urged residents to be vigilant and critical of information circulating on social media.
The incident comes just a day after a similar incident in Stockholm, where the Israeli Embassy was reportedly hit by bullets. While no one was arrested in that incident, the events have raised concerns about the safety of Israeli diplomatic missions in Europe.
Danish Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard described the situation as “inherently serious” but emphasized that it was too early to speculate on a motive. The investigation is ongoing. (Red)
